1601 There is much confusion about Thomas the father and Thomas the son.
Have seen that the son was married Margaret McGraw however, the birthyears
are not consistent (Thomas the son b 1735 and Margaret McGraw born 1704)

MCCOOL, Thomas (I3019)

1602 There is much confusion among the Casey's that moved from SC to TN to AR. Names get reused each generation. More indepth research is needed. CASEY, Aaron (I1148)

1603 There is no record of his wife Phoebe in America so perhaps she stayed in
England or died before he came to America. Is in Watertown in 1642. By Oct
of 1645 he had moved to Boston.

He married(2) Susanna (widow of John Simson of Watertown, MA was buried
on 10 June 1643) some time between November 1643 and November 1644.
He sold his Watertown property between 1645 and 1655 and one grantee was
in son-in-law Thomas Arnold. His wife Susanna returned to her family in London
England before 1655. George sold the remains of her former husband's property
and seems to have returned to England shortly after 13 June 1655. He may be the Geroge Parkhurst who died in Jun 1675; buried 18 Jun 1675 St Laurence, Ipswich, Suffolk, England.

Named in a 1655 deed from Thomas Arnold, co-signed by wife Phebe, which names brother-in-law George Parkhurst of Watertown and "our Father George Parkhurst and his wife Susanna."

First appears in America when a highway was ordered by his house in Watertown on 10 May 1642. At the same time, he was granted 56 acres of land, but he does not appear in the town grants between 1636 and 1638.He married the widow of John Simson, who died in Watertown in June 1643. He acquired Simson's land, some of which he disposed of in November1644, meaning they were married before then. He is then recorded inBoston in several deeds between 1645 and 1655. A 1695 suit involving hisson George and some land of John Simson's, there is an affadavit thatsays George was "about 67" in 1655, that his family was in destitute condition, that his wife had had seven sons and three daughters in America (including two sons with Simson) and that she had gone to London with six of those children. She had found her family unable to helpandGeorge apparently wanted to sell his remaining land to go to her aid.

Research in NEHGR 27:364 reveals the following: George Parkhurst Sr. of Watertown was the brother or brother-in-law of Ruth Dalton, wife ofRev. Timothy Dalton of Hampton. She provided in her will for his children, Deborah, wife of John Smith; Elizabeth, widow of Emmanuel Hilliard, wife of Joseph Merry; Phebe, wife of Thomas Arnall; George Parker [Parkhurst]; Joseph Parker [Parkhurst]; Mary, wife of Thomas Carter ofWoburn. Other letters connect Benjamin and Joseph.
PARKHURST, George (I3476)

1604 There is no wife listed in the 1818 Rev War pension file of
Hezekiah, which might support the 1817 death date vs. the 1837.

Or the Elizabeth Hunter Lindsey who died in 1817 might be the wife ofElijah Lindsey.
They had married in 1812, he remarried in 1819.
FISHER, Eliza (I1758)

1605 There is some confusion about the dates regarding the will. It is listed in Blanche
Adam Chapman's Wills and Administrations of Isle of Wight Co, VA 1647- 1800 on
page 150 as follows:
"Newsum, Thomas: Leg. son Natha; son Banjamin; son Jacob; son David;my
son Thomas Barnham; daughter Sarah Barnham; wife Elizabeth. Exs., wife and John
Jacob Newsum. D. October 14, 1745. R. January 27, 1745. Wit: Nathaniel Ridley, Jesse
Browne. (Refers to land left his children by thier brother.)"
- from other entries on pg 150, January 27, 1745 seems to be the recorded date. The inventory
was presented on 24 Mar 1745.

NEWSOM, Thomas (I3356)

1606 There may be a 3rd son Robert b. abt 1630 ... or Robert could be a son of Nicholas.
In a court case, Robert is refered to as a "Welsh rogue" and a "Welsh dog" indicating that perhaps
the Spencers were from Wales. This Robert died 1679. See Genealogies of VA Families, Vol 4 Healy - Pryor, pg 507
SPENCER, ? (I5299)

1607 There was a James Singleton b. 1773 bur 28 Jan 1821
at St. Luke, Chelsea, Middlesex, England
possible brother or father???
SINGLETON, Steward Benjamin (I5570)

1608 This birthdate and residence might be for Felix Jr, son of Felix. GARLAND, Felix R (I5167)

1609 This is perhaps the William Burnett found in the 1840 Henderson Co, TN census
on the same page with Statia Burnitt and Samuel Burnitt.
BURNETT, William (I1011)

1610 This is the date given on a Record of Deaths from the family Bible. However, William was listed in the 1880 census in Griggs twp, Van Buren Co, AR. The census is dated 28 Jun 1880. WARD, William A (I4863)

1611 This line is VERY sketchy. Info below is from an online post by MarkHolderfield in 2003.
Unable to contact in 2007. Needs LOTS more work.

Sailed from Scotland when 5 years of age with parents who died soon after arriving in the colonies.

HOLIFIELD, Valentine (I2417)

1612 This marriage is indexed as George Peterson and Amelia Raven. However, it is sometimes indexed as Amelia Powers.  Family F411

1613 This may be the son of Elisha Garland, not Jesse Garland. GARLAND, Jesse Alford (I5168)

1615 Thistlewood Cem MCRAVEN, Mayme (I203)

1616 Thomas came to VA aboard the AMERICA, William Barker, master on 23
June 1635. A certificate from the minister of the town of Gravesend,
of conformity to the order and discipline of t he church of England,
accompanies it. See Hotten's original list of emigrants to America.

1619 Thomas moved with his parents to present Pulaski County about 1768. He served with Henry Patton's detachment in the war of 1774, and served of 42 days.

After his father's death, Thomas received title to 335 acres of the homeplace on the headwaters of Neck Creek being part of 300 and 500 acres laid off for Samuel Cecil. He also received 217 acres further east on Neck Creek being the lands north of White Glades. In 1794 he had inclusive surveys made, one for 520 acres which included the lands from the homeplace, and the other for 425 acres which included the 217 acres. In adition he purched the White Glades tract of 320 acres from Thomas Pickens and his wife Sarah. (Summer, Annals, pp 924,925,929; Montogomery County Survey Book E, pp.100,156).

On the home tract, Thomas and wife Nancy Grayson, built a small cabin with a very large stone chimney which still stand today (1982) on the Guthrie place. In 1800 Richard Guthrie broght Cecil's 520 acres and his decendants are still in the same location.

initial thought was this could be Hezekiah Jr but he would have been 39.

Have seen that brother William served with Hezekiah in Rev War in
13th Va Regt until Wm was killed then Hezekiah joined the 9th. This
conflicts with the death date of 1838 (which could also be wrong.)

Pvt Hezekiah Lindsay was granted 100 acres in KY as land bounty for VA military service. Warrant number 1028 in Ky Land Office.
Source: Military Records: VA in the Rev and War of 1812 CD #121; Rev War Records, Section 3, pg 461
Also given in Old KY Entries and Deeds by Jilldon p 345 also gives date of 23 Jun 1783

Also listed is Capt William Lindsay who recd 4000 acres; VA cav 3 years; 26 Jun 1783
Pvt Peter Lindsey was granted 200 acres Va Cont Line - terms of svc "war" - joined 6 Dec 1783

Thought that Hezekiah's parents were David Lindsey of Tyrone Ireland and Mary Fleming; however, DNA
tests contradict this.
